Cross-entry to a Master's program without a first academic degree
Here you will find important information on admission to Master's degree programs without a first university degree. In Germany, you have the opportunity to enter a Master's program without a first university degree, as long as you have relevant professional experience.
That means that you need to have a completed vocational training, as well as at least four years of professional experience in a relevant industry and a university entrance qualification. If you want to apply for a masters degree program, you will also have to pass an aptitude test that is carried out by the University and which consists of:
- four written examinations of 90 minutes each in four selected subjects of a relevant Bachelor's degree program.
- a project paper (completion period of 8 weeks) + colloquium (30 to 60 minutes)
- One professional discussion (30 to 60 minutes)
The examination is meant to ensure a level of knowledge equivalent to that of a Bachelor's or Diploma degree by all applicants. If you decide to take the aptitude test, the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences will prepare you for the examination and a personal contact person will help you in case there are any questions. In the past, students taking the aptitude test were usually successful at the first attempt. To take the examination, a fee of € 690,00 has to be paid in advance. If you pass the aptitude test, the examination fee is refunded upon matriculation. You will receive a certificate confirming that you have passed the aptitude test, showing the overall grade as well as the individual examinations with your grades and subject areas. The certificate can be used to apply for admission to the respective MBA.
The application deadline for the aptitude examination is 15 February each year.
