Data protection

Thank you for your interest in our website. Data protection is a particularly high priority for the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.

General information on data processing
1. Scope of the processing of personal data
As a matter of principle, we process personal data of our users only to the extent necessary to fulfil our tasks, in particular to provide a functional website as well as our content and services. Furthermore, the processing of personal data of our users is regularly only carried out with the consent of the user. An exception applies in those cases in which obtaining prior consent is not possible for legitimate reasons and the processing of the data is permitted by legal regulations.

2. Legal basis for the processing of personal data
Insofar as we obtain the consent of the data subject for processing operations involving personal data, Art. 6 (1) (a) of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GSDVO) serves as the legal basis. When processing personal data that is necessary for the performance of a contract to which the data subject is a party, Art. 6 (1) (b) DSGVO serves as the legal basis. This also applies to processing operations that are necessary for the implementation of pre-contractual measures.

3. Data deletion and storage period
The personal data of the data subject will be deleted or blocked as soon as the purpose of storage ceases to apply. Storage may take place beyond this if this has been provided for by the European or national legislator in Union regulations, laws or other provisions to which the controller is subject. The data will also be blocked or deleted if a storage period prescribed by the aforementioned standards expires, unless there is a necessity for the continued storage of the data for the conclusion or fulfilment of a contract.

Provision of the website and creation of log files

1. Description and scope of data processing
Each time our website is accessed, our system automatically collects data and information from the computer system of the accessing computer.
The following data is collected:

  1. Information about the browser type and the version used.
  2. The user's operating system
  3. The user's internet service provider
  4. The IP address of the user
  5. Date and time of access
  6. Websites from which the user's system accesses our website
  7. Websites accessed by the user's system via our website
  8. The access status/HTTP status code
  9. The amount of data transferred in each case
  10. Other similar data and information, to avert danger to our information technology systems.

This data is also stored in the log files of our system. This data is not stored together with other personal data of the user.

2. Legal basis for data processing
The legal basis for the temporary storage of the data and the log files is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO.

3. Purpose of the data processing
The temporary storage of the IP address by the system is necessary to enable delivery of the user-optimised website to the user's computer. For this purpose, the user's IP address must remain stored for the duration of the session. The storage in log files is done to ensure the functionality of the website. In addition, we use the data to optimise the website and to ensure the security of our information technology systems.

4. Duration of storage
The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. In the case of the collection of data for the provision of the website, this is the case when the respective session has ended.

In the case of storage of data in log files, this is the case after seven days at the latest. Storage beyond this period is possible. In this case, the IP addresses of the users are deleted or alienated, so that an assignment of the calling client is no longer possible.

5. Possibility of objection and removal
The collection of data for the provision of the website and the storage of the data in log files is absolutely necessary for the operation of the website. Consequently, there is no possibility for the user to object.

Use of essential and analysis cookies

1. Description and scope of data processing
We use cookies on our website. Some of them are necessary (essential) so that the website can be used to its full extent. There is nothing to prevent general use of the website. Other cookies are "analysis cookies" which help us to improve our website. You can accept only the "essential cookies" or "accept all cookies" and manage the cookie settings in detail. Furthermore, you can access these settings at any time via the navigation point "Cookie settings" and also deselect cookies subsequently.

Our website uses cookies. Cookies are text files that are stored in the internet browser or by the internet browser on the user's computer system. When a user calls up a website, a cookie may be stored on the user's operating system. These cookies contain a characteristic string of characters that enables the browser to be uniquely identified when the website is called up again.

We use essential cookies to make our website more user-friendly and to provide an optimal website experience. Some elements of our website require that the calling browser can be identified even after a page change.

The following data is stored and transmitted in the cookies:

  1. Language settings
  2. Session ID (anonymous ID to which the login status is then assigned on the server side)
  3. Settings for analysis cookies

We also use "analysis cookies" on our website, which allow us to analyse the surfing behaviour of users. We use the Google Analytics service for this purpose. The provider is Google Dublin, Google Ireland Ltd, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.

The information generated by the cookies about your use of this website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. By setting the cookies, Google is enabled to analyse the use of our website. Each time one of the individual pages of this website is called up, the Internet browser on your end device is automatically prompted by the respective Google Analytics component to transmit data to Google for the purpose of online analysis. As part of this technical process, Google obtains knowledge of personal data, such as the IP address of the person concerned, which Google uses, among other things, to track the origin of visitors and clicks and subsequently to enable commission calculations. The personal data will be stored by Google in the USA. Google may pass on this personal data collected via the technical procedure to third parties.

We use the add-on "_gat._anonymizeIp" for web analysis via Google Analytics. By means of this addition, the IP address of the internet connection of the person concerned is shortened and anonymised by Google if access to our website is from a member state of the European Union or from another state party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area.

In addition to the standard functions, this website also uses the Google Analytics advertising functions. The Google Analytics advertising features implemented on this website include the Google Analytics reports on performance by demographic characteristics and interests. To this end, we use first-party cookies (e.g. Google Analytics cookies) and third-party cookies (e.g. DoubleClick cookies) together to evaluate in anonymised and aggregated form which demographic characteristics and interests visitors to our website typically exhibit. We use this information to improve our web offerings.

When calling up our website, users are informed by an information banner about the use of cookies for analysis purposes and referred to this data protection declaration. These cookies are only set after the users have given their consent.

2. Legal basis for data processing
Unless otherwise stated, personal data is processed within the scope of our public duties (§ 3 HDSIG; DSGVO Art. 6c in conjunction with HHG § 16) for effective information and interaction with users.
The legal basis for the processing of data is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO if the user has given his or her consent.

3. Purpose of data processing
The purpose of using technically necessary cookies is to simplify the use of websites for users. Some functions of our website cannot be offered without the use of cookies. For these, it is necessary that the browser is recognised even after a page change.

We require cookies for the following applications:

  1. Acceptance of language settings
  2. Securing forms with security tokens
  3. Remembering tracking settings

The user data collected through technically necessary cookies are not used to create user profiles. Analysis cookies and the Google Analytics service are used to improve the quality of our website and its content. Through the analysis cookies, we learn how the website is used and can thus constantly optimise our offer.

4. Duration of storage, objection and removal options
Cookies are stored on the user's computer and transmitted to our website by the user. Therefore, you as a user also have full control over the use of cookies. By changing the settings in your internet browser, you can deactivate or restrict the transmission of cookies. Cookies that have already been stored can be deleted at any time. This can also be done automatically.
After entering the website, the user is asked whether cookies may be stored; the user of the website can select which cookies he or she accepts. Only after the user has given his or her consent will these cookies be stored. In this way, another cookie is set on their system, which signals to our system which settings have been made.
You can find more information on the handling of user data on Google's "Privacy policy and user conditions" page: https://policies.google.com/?hl=de&gl=de

The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for our recording purposes. For analysis cookies, this is the case after 30 days at the latest.

Contact forms and e-mail contact

1. Description and scope of data processing

The processing of the personal data from the input mask serves us solely to process the contact. The other personal data processed during the sending process serve to prevent misuse of the contact form and to ensure the security of our information technology systems.

4. Duration of storage

The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. For the personal data from the input mask of the contact form and those sent by e-mail, this is the case when the respective conversation with the user has ended. The additional personal data collected during the sending process will be deleted at the latest after a period of seven days.

5. Possibility of objection and removal

The user has the possibility to revoke his consent to the processing of personal data at any time. If the user contacts us by e-mail, he can object to the storage of his personal data at any time. In such a case, the conversation cannot be continued. To exercise these rights, it is best to contact us by e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. All personal data stored in the course of contacting us will be deleted in this case.

Advertising measures with Google Ads

1.Scope of the processing of personal data
We use Google Ads to place internet advertising in the Google search engine and the Google advertising network. The provider is Google Dublin, Google Ireland Ltd, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
With Google Ads, we can define keywords that enable advertisements to be displayed in the search engine for keyword-specific search queries by users. Through automatic algorithms and defined keywords, advertisements can also be displayed on topic-relevant websites in the Google advertising network. If a data subject navigates to our website by clicking on an advertisement, Google stores a conversion cookie on the end device of this person, which is not used to identify the person. We also use the Google Remarketing Ads function, which allows us to display advertisements to users who have previously visited our website. This enables us to deliver user-related and interest-relevant advertising to the data subject.

2. Legal basis for the processing of personal data
The legal basis for the use of Google Ads (incl. Google Remarketing) is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO.

3. Purpose of the data processing
We use Google Ads (incl. Google Remarketing) to advertise our website through interest-relevant advertisements in the Google search engine and on third-party websites.

4. Duration of storage
The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for our recording purposes. The conversion tracking cookie from Google Ads is stored for 1 year.

5. Possibility of objection and removal
Cookies are stored on the user's computer and transmitted from it to our site. Therefore, you as a user also have full control over the use of cookies. By changing the settings in your internet browser, you can deactivate or restrict the transmission of cookies. Cookies that have already been stored can be deleted at any time. This can also be done automatically.

You can find more information on the handling of user data on the Google pages on "Privacy Policy and User Terms and Conditions": https://policies.google.com/?hl=de&gl=de

Integration of external services and third-party content

On our website, we use content or service offers from third-party providers in order to integrate their content and services. The legal basis for the processing of the data is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO if the user has given his consent. For the technical realization of the integrations, it is necessary that the third-party providers perceive the following data of the page users: IP address of the calling end device, date and time of access. Frankfurt UAS endeavors to only integrate the content of third-party providers who only use the collected data to deliver the content. In addition, third-party providers may collect further personal data (e.g. via invisible pixel tags) for statistical or marketing purposes and cookies may be stored on the user's terminal device. The external services and third-party content used on our website and their processing of personal data are presented in detail below.

Open Street Maps

We include map material from OpenStreetMap on our website. OpenStreetMap is a project of the OpenStreetMap Foundation, 132 Maney Hill Road, Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands B72 1JU, United Kingdom, which collects freely usable geodata and stores it in a database for free use. Any subsequent interactions on this website (such as searching by institute, region, continent, organizational unit) will connect to the OpenStreetMap Foundation servers and transfer data to the OpenStreetMap Foundation to display embedded maps. For more information on data protection in connection with OpenStreet Map, please refer to the OpenStreetMap Foundation's data protection information.

When establishing a connection to display the maps, the following data is transmitted to OpenStreetMap servers:

  • IP address,
  • browser and device used,
  • operating system,
  • the website from which you were redirected to the
  • page of the OpenStreetMap Foundation (referring web page) and
  • Date and time of your visit to the website.

If you have a user account with OpenStreetMap and are logged in when you visit our website, the following data is also transmitted to the OpenStreetMap servers:

  • User ID,
  • email address associated with their account
  • content blocked by the user and associated messages.

You can prevent any data transfer to OpenStreetMap's servers by disabling JavaScript in your browser. In this case, however, you will not be able to use the map display. Further information on data protection in connection with OpenStreetMap can be found here.

Social media appearances

1. Description and scope of data processing
The Frankfurt UAS Competence Campus maintains social media presences in order to interact with the users active there and to be able to inform them about the further education offers of Frankfurt UAS.

In doing so, user data may be processed outside the European Union, which may entail risks such as making it more difficult to enforce data subjects' rights.

The processing of users' personal data regularly takes place for market research and advertising purposes. In this context, user profiles can be created by the platform operators, which are used for the distribution of individualized advertising measures within and outside the platform. This is basically realized by storing cookies on the end devices of the users. In addition, the data may also be stored outside the end devices used by users.

2. Legal basis for data processing
The legal basis for the processing of data is Art. 6 (1) lit. a DSGVO if the user has given his consent. Such consent can be requested from the respective service provider to the user.

3. Purpose of the processing, duration of the storage, possibility of objection and elimination
The purposes of the respective processing of personal data, their duration of storage, the possibilities to object to the processing are to be considered individually depending on the provider and are always subject to adjustments by the providers.
This information can be viewed in detail at the respective service provider and is linked below.
The service providers can also most effectively process requests for information and the assertion of user rights, as only the providers have access to the user data and can take appropriate measures and provide information. We will support you in your request if you still need help.

Rights of the data subject

If your personal data is processed, you are a data subject within the meaning of the DSGVO and you have the following rights vis-à-vis the controller:
